The Eight Major Semiconductor Technologies (III) - Integrated Circuits: An Electronic Revolution

Image
During the "oxidation" step, an oxide layer (SiO₂) is formed on the surface of the wafer. The wafer is the most important material in semiconductor processing. The oxide layer protects the surface of the wafer from impurities, and the next step is to design the semiconductor circuit. What does the circuit in a semiconductor chip look like? Let's learn together! Micro semiconductor chips contain thousands to millions of electronic components (diodes, transistors, capacitors, resistors) within them. How are these semiconductor integrated circuits made? Let's first understand a bit of the history of semiconductor development. Transistors: Where the Electronic Revolution Began In 1947, researchers at Bell Laboratories, the central research facility of the largest telecommunications company in the United States, American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T), invented the transistor. This invention was initially called the "amplifier" and later renamed as the tran...

The Entrepreneur Selling Houses to Start a Silicon Chips Company

Editor's Note: Given Mr. Song Shiqiang's understanding of the semiconductor supply chain, leading SLKOR  in continuous technological innovation and the successful launch of new products, they have achieved remarkable results in the field of "domestic substitution" of electronic components. The " SLKOR " (www.slkor ic .com) brand is well-known among peers, with users spanning over 15,000 companies worldwide. Mr. Song Shiqiang was interviewed by Li Liao, a journalist from "Corporate" magazine. "Corporate" magazine is a subsidiary publication of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission's newspaper, "Legal Daily," with the aim of promoting the spirit of democratic rule of law and advancing rule-based compliance in enterprise management. The magazine focuses on major economic and legal events and emphasizes corporate compliance management. Li Liao is the chief editor of the "Corporate" magazine at the Legal ...

In order to express the gratitude and support to our friends,  Kinghelm and S LKOR  designed 2024 Year of the Dragon desktop calendars to be presented to our p artners, 8,000 copies were delivered in two days, and Mr. Song Shiqiang immediately arranged to order 3,000 more copies. The unique, simple and exquisite design of this calendar, with a strong Chinese style, shows the company's unremitting pursuit of high quality, and also reflects the company's corporate culture of humanistic care and excellence.      Year of the Dragon Calendar This desk calendar features a red background with gold lettering, simple and gener...

Russian Chip Plan: Mass Production of 28nm Chips by 2027 and 14nm Chips by 2030

Image
Due to the war with Ukraine and the resulting global isolation and sanctions, Russia is devising a plan to revive its struggling domestic semiconductor manufacturing, as it cannot obtain chips from traditional suppliers. Therefore, Russia's new chip plan involves significant investments over the next eight years, but the targets do not seem ambitious. For example, while TSMC plans to achieve 2nm process by 2026, Russia hopes to achieve 28nm local chip manufacturing by 2027 and domestic 14nm chip manufacturing by 2030, according to the latest report from Cnews. The Russian government has drafted a preliminary version of a new microelectronics development program that requires an investment of about £3.19 trillion ($38.43 billion) by 2030. This funding will be used for developing local semiconductor production technology, domestic chip development, data center infrastructure, talent, marketing homemade chips and solutions, according to Cnews. In terms of semiconductor manufacturing...
