1.1 Product Name: Slkor SL27517A Driver MOSFET Solution
1.2 Typical Applications: Power tools, motor control, AC-DC converters, industrial automation systems, and more.
2. Benchmark Performance and Strong Compatibility
2.1 Symmetrical Drive Capability
The Slkor SL27517A, a 4A single-channel gate driver, is a robust alternative to TI’s UCC27517DBVR, offering performance compatibility, cost efficiency, design flexibility, and stable supply assurance.
Delivering 4A peak source/sink current (VDD = 12V), the SL27517A matches TI’s UCC27517 performance while driving MOSFETs and IGBTs efficiently—ideal for switching power supplies, DC-DC converters, and motor drive systems.
Its wide operating voltage range (4.5V–20V) surpasses TI’s 4.5V–18V spec, providing greater design adaptability, especially in low-voltage or battery-powered applications such as portable devices.
2.2 Fast Response and Low Delay
With a typical propagation delay of only 12ns and fast rise/fall times (6ns/11ns), the SL27517A ensures precise timing control and minimal switching losses—a perfect match for high-frequency systems, including digital power supplies and GaN-based power solutions.
3. Design Flexibility and Enhanced Reliability
3.1 Dual Input Configuration
The SL27517A supports both inverting (IN−) and non-inverting (IN+) input modes, enabling flexible logic configuration and simplifying PCB layout and control design.
3.2 Floating Input Protection
When input pins are left floating, the output automatically latches low, preventing false triggering of power transistors and significantly enhancing system safety and reliability.
3.3 Low Quiescent Current
Engineered for low standby power consumption, the SL27517A is particularly suitable for battery-powered, solar, and backup power (UPS) systems—offering energy-efficient performance without compromising reliability.
The Slkor SL27517A represents a balance of speed, efficiency, and robustness, empowering engineers to design smarter, safer, and more cost-effective power systems across diverse industrial and energy applications.
4. Typical Application of Slkor SL27517A in High-Power Driving Scenarios
4.1 Application Principle
The input modulation signal delivers a PWM waveform that drives the Slkor PC817 optocoupler (U2). When the 24V pulse signal is high, the optocoupler current is approximately 6mA (5V control is also supported by adjusting current-limiting resistors R6 and R8).
The PC817 provides effective signal isolation, powered by the Slkor LM2596S-5.0 DC-DC power management IC, which supplies a stable 5V output. The external modulation signal can be sourced from a PLC or other industrial controller.
The Slkor switching diode (D1) acts as a flyback protection diode, safeguarding the optocoupler when the input signal is reverse-connected.
At the core of the circuit is the Slkor SL27517A gate driver (U1) — a single-channel, 4A high-speed low-side driver capable of efficiently and safely driving MOSFETs and IGBTs. Its features include low propagation delay, a compact SOT-23 package, and ultra-low quiescent current, enabling MOSFET switching frequencies up to hundreds of kHz.
With its superior speed, isolation design, and power efficiency, the SL27517A is an excellent choice for synchronous rectification in servers, communication power supplies, and industrial automation systems.
4.2 Slkor Application Insights for Engineers
In this circuit, the Slkor SL27517A gate driver is powered by 12V. When Pin 5 outputs a high signal, it drives the Slkor SL142N06Q MOSFET, switching it on to power the load.
The SL142N06Q features a typical drain-source current of 20A at a 10V gate drive, with an ultra-low RDS(on) of 2.6mΩ, making it ideal for high-speed switching, power conversion, and synchronous rectification applications.
For optimal performance, resistor R3 should be selected according to actual PCB layout and parasitic characteristics; 100Ω is recommended as a reference. It should be placed close to the MOSFET gate with minimal trace length to reduce parasitic inductance and ensure clean switching transitions.
The D3 switching diode serves to accelerate the MOSFET’s turn-off process and can be added as needed to enhance switching efficiency and thermal performance under dynamic load conditions.
