SLCE1005A015FR: Ultra-Compact 0603 ESD Protection for High-Frequency Designs
Slkor introduces the SLCE1005A015FR ESD protection diode, engineered for high-frequency electronic applications. Featuring an ultra-compact 0603 package and ultra-low capacitance, it delivers dependable electrostatic protection for high-speed interfaces such as HDMI 1.3, high-speed Ethernet, and USB 2.0. Designed to suppress electrostatic discharge (ESD) and transient interference, the SLCE1005A015FR helps maintain signal integrity and ensures stable device performance even in demanding electromagnetic environments.

The core advantage of this device lies in its precise protection and excellent signal compatibility in high-frequency environments: built with thick-film technology and a bidirectional protection design, it features an ultra-low junction capacitance (Cp) of just 0.15pF (typical), minimizing signal distortion even at 1MHz and making it well suited for high-frequency applications up to 3.4GHz, such as HDMI 1.3 interfaces. Its insertion loss is extremely low — only −0.25dB at 3.4GHz — helping preserve high-speed data integrity. In addition, the fast response time (<1ns) enables immediate suppression of overvoltage events, while a typical TLP clamping voltage (VC, TLP 30) of 40V and a trigger voltage (VT, TLP) of 250V together form robust protection for sensitive circuits.
In terms of protection performance, the SLCE1005A015FR meets stringent international standards. It complies with IEC 61000–4–2 Level 4, supporting contact discharge of 8kV (typical) and up to 15kV, and air discharge of 15kV (typical) up to 25kV. The device can withstand more than 100 ESD strikes while maintaining stable performance. Its maximum leakage current is only 10μA at 14V DC, ensuring extremely low standby power consumption and helping extend battery life in portable and battery-powered devices.
The package and reliability design are equally compelling: the device adopts an ultra-compact 0603 footprint (1.50–1.70mm × 0.70–0.90mm × 0.40–0.60mm), reducing PCB space by nearly 30% compared with conventional packages and enabling high-density layouts. It supports standard reflow soldering and withstands peak temperatures of 260°C for 10 seconds. The component has also passed multiple reliability tests, including humidity, thermal shock, and vibration. With an operating temperature range of −55°C to +125°C, it is well suited for long-term, stable operation in demanding environments.
In terms of application scenarios, the SLCE1005A015FR fits seamlessly into critical areas of high-frequency electronic systems:
● In consumer electronics, it safeguards RF links in smartphone antennas, GPS modules, and Bluetooth devices from electrostatic interference;
● It supports display and communication interfaces such as HDMI 1.3, DVI, and USB 2.0, helping ensure uninterrupted 4K video and high-speed data transmission;
● It protects high-speed Ethernet ports and printer interfaces in industrial equipment, resisting electromagnetic transients common in factory environments.
“The breakthrough of SLCE1005A015FR lies in balancing ultra-low capacitance with strong protection within a 0603 package,” said the head of Slkor’s protection devices division. “High-frequency circuits are highly sensitive to parasitic parameters. Through material innovation and structural optimization, we enable reliable 42V DC operating voltage protection without compromising signal integrity — an approach that aligns directly with the industry’s move toward higher frequencies and greater miniaturization.”
Currently, the SLCE1005A015FR is in stable mass production and available for bulk supply.
