From Persistence to Breakthrough: How Gu Daoming is Powering China’s Chip Future

In the heart of Shenzhen’s world-famous Huaqiangbei electronics market, Gu Daoming — General Manager of Qiannenghui — has spent more than two decades transforming his career from a solo entrepreneur into the founder of a cutting-edge chip company. Evolving from a distributor to creating his own independent brand, QNHCHIP, Gu has remained steadfast in his original vision, overcoming countless challenges along the way.

With a distinctive business philosophy, he has built a respected foundry brand in China’s semiconductor sector while becoming a recognized figure in the “Huaqiangbei Merchant Electronic Culture,” helping shape the community’s growth and innovation.

Recently, the Slkor editorial team visited Qiannenghui’s new headquarters — a sleek, Grade A office in Leconghui Tower, Guanlan, Longhua — for an exclusive, in-depth conversation. There, Mr. Gu shared his journey of resilience, brand-building, and the pursuit of technological independence.

Shenzhen Qiannenghui Electronics Co., Ltd., established in 2012, operates a dual business model—combining agency distribution with the development of its own independent brand—to deliver high-performance, cost-effective power chip solutions.

Specializing in low-power consumption power chips and low-voltage, low-power MOSFETs, Qiannenghui serves as an authorized distributor for renowned brands including Shanghai Belling, Nanjing Micro One, Holtek, Torex, Nanlin Electronics, and Aerospace Minxin.

Its proprietary brand, QNHCHIP, focuses on chip foundry services, backed by long-term, stable partnerships with leading production, packaging, and testing facilities. The company’s supply chain expertise has earned collaborations with top domestic names such as Xiaomi, Midea, and Aimitek, ensuring both quality and reliability.

Gu Daoming, founder of Qiannenghui, shared the deeper meaning behind the company’s name:

  • “Qian” is inspired by the Qian hexagram in the Book of Changes (I Ching), symbolizing “The movement of heaven is full of power; thus, the superior man makes himself strong and untiring.” It reflects Qiannenghui’s relentless drive for growth.

  • “Neng” represents drawing energy from the universe.

  • “Hui” signifies bringing benefits to customers, partners, and the industry as a whole.

A passionate admirer of traditional Chinese culture and Sinology, Gu’s office décor tells a story of vision and heritage. A calligraphy scroll reading “Purple Air from the East”—a classic Chinese omen of good fortune—hangs alongside a hand-painted oil painting of The Great Wall.

For Gu, these artworks are more than decoration:

  • The Purple Air embodies optimism and prosperity.

  • The Great Wall stands for strength, stability, endurance, and forward progress—qualities he believes are essential to Qiannenghui’s future.

“This Great Wall painting was specially commissioned,” Gu notes with pride. “It’s a one-of-a-kind piece, just like the values we uphold—rooted in tradition, yet built to stand the test of time.”

Gu Daoming, born in Wuhua, Meizhou, Guangdong, embodies the hallmark traits of the Hakka people from Eastern Guangdong—diligence, humility, a pioneering spirit, and a readiness to share.

His chip industry journey began in 2001, right after graduating from university. Accepting his brother’s invitation, he became the store manager of a shop in Huaqiang Electronics World, overseeing daily operations and building firsthand experience in the bustling heart of Shenzhen’s electronics trade.

By 2004, when imported chips still dominated China’s market, Gu’s sharp market insight told him a change was coming. Spotting the massive potential of homegrown semiconductor products, and seeing peers around him start their own ventures, he took a decisive step—renting a small counter in Huaqiangbei and launching his own business as an independent distributor of domestic chips.

What began as a single counter in a crowded market would later grow into a full-fledged company, with Gu at the forefront of China’s chip innovation wave.

“I started out simply—distributing diodes and transistors from Changdian. But by 2010, I saw the tremendous potential of power management solutions and began working with Nanjing Micro One,” recalls Gu Daoming.

With each passing year, his industry expertise deepened—and so did his ambition to create his own brand. In truth, the seed had been planted much earlier.

“I majored in Marketing at university, so I understood the power of brand building from the start. Back in 2003, I even attempted to co-found a major brand with relatives. It didn’t work out after the trial run, but I never gave up on that vision.”

That perseverance bore fruit in 2012, when Gu officially founded Shenzhen Qiannenghui Electronics Co., Ltd.—marking the beginning of his determined journey to build and grow a truly independent Chinese chip brand.

Gu Daoming knows that exceptional product quality and outstanding service are the bedrock of any successful brand. From the moment Qiannenghui was founded, he set his sights on strengthening R&D and broadening the product portfolio.

To achieve this, he forged a strategic partnership with South China Normal University (SCNU)—a collaboration that blends production, academic expertise, and innovation.

“Our work with SCNU has been highly productive. We’ve funded the design of several integrated circuit layouts with excellent results, and in return, they’ve introduced us to top-tier graduates—particularly FAE engineers specializing in embedded systems and reliability testing,” says Gu.

As a Senior Engineer certified by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Gu doesn’t just lead from the sidelines—he actively joins his engineering team in defining and developing next-generation power chips.

Under his guidance, Qiannenghui has secured over ten patents, built a solid reputation in the power management chip sector, and expanded into new categories including operational amplifiers, comparators, ADC/DACs, logic ICs, and interface ICs.

These solutions now power a wide range of consumer electronics—from 3C digital devices, cameras, and surveillance systems to power banks, beauty tech, smart lighting, and Bluetooth speakers—making Qiannenghui a trusted partner for global innovation.

Looking ahead, Gu Daoming envisions Qiannenghui as a driving force in the rise of China’s semiconductor industry—with a continued focus on domestic chip R&D and deepening brand influence.

With 24 years of industry experience, Gu has remained unwavering in his commitment to selling only domestic chips—a choice that reflects both his loyalty to the national industry and his confidence in the quality and performance of homegrown technology.

Having worked with Chinese chips since the early 2000s, he has witnessed their remarkable transformation in Huaqiangbei—from underdogs to globally competitive products.

“Today, we exclusively work with domestic chips,” Gu says with pride. “Our future lies in reaching the end market directly, building brand recognition, and steadily expanding our influence.”

Through this vision, Qiannenghui is not just a business—it’s part of a broader mission to elevate Chinese semiconductor brands onto the world stage.

From humble beginnings, Gu Daoming has spent 24 years single-handedly building the “QNHCHIP” brand (www.qnhchip.com), turning a dream into a recognized name in China’s semiconductor industry. His journey is a living embodiment of the “Huaqiangbei Spirit”—a blend of bold vision, relentless drive, and the courage to innovate.

As described by Huaqiangbei business research expert Mr. Song Shiqiang, this spirit represents an entire generation of entrepreneurs who dared to take risks, break new ground, and shape the future of China’s electronics hub.

Gu’s story mirrors the rise of countless counter-owners in Huaqiangbei—entrepreneurs who transformed small trading stalls into influential enterprises through sheer persistence and ingenuity.

Mr. Song Shiqiang from Kinghelm and Slkor Semiconductor extends his best wishes for QNHCHIP’s continued success, confident that it will keep contributing to the growth and global competitiveness of China’s electronics industry.
