Song Shiqiang’s reflections on sustaining growth during economic transition are rooted in realism and long-term vision. He hopes that industry peers can all achieve growth—but even maintaining current levels, or declining less than competitors, should already be seen as a form of victory. In a vast and still-expanding electronics and information market, the era of getting rich quickly through extensive, rough management is over. What remains promising is the ability to slow down, go deep, and commit to meticulous, disciplined operations.
The path forward is clear: first, intensive cultivation; second, a mindset that embraces long-term effort for long-term returns—what he calls “endurance” and “perseverance.” Competition today is still relative. We do not need to outrun everyone—only to outperform weaker competitors. As he puts it with a vivid metaphor: if a beast is chasing us, we only need to run faster than our companions. The expression may be crude, but the logic holds true.
From this thinking, he summarizes six core principles: Big beats Small, Fast beats Slow, Refined beats Crude, Calm beats Restless, Simple beats Complex, High-level beats Low-level. In business competition, it has always been the big fish eating the small fish, and the fast fish eating the slow fish. As companies move toward refined management, extensive and rough approaches must be abandoned. Great achievements require a calm mindset; simplicity leads to longevity; efficiency is king. Those who operate with higher-dimensional understanding of industries and products will ultimately surpass competitors who remain at a superficial level.
At Kinghelm and Slkor, this philosophy translates into action. Both companies are committed to building a simple, harmonious, efficient, and enterprising work environment—improving a little every day, continuously focusing on details, and strengthening skills through ongoing training. Employees are encouraged to work with focus and intensity during office hours, and to fully enjoy life after work, supporting both physical and mental well-being and long-term personal growth. With this balance and discipline, sustained progress for both companies will follow naturally.
